I just bought this calendar from happify at etsy, and I’m totally in love. The design is fantastic! Simple, elegant yet fun, and the colors are great. They are designed as postcards, but I don’t think that there is anyone I like enough to send these to. I want to keep them all for myself! This is what good design aspires to be, compelling and beautiful yet simple. Wonderful! I’m hoping that I get to go back to happify and find some other wonderful thing to buy. Check it out at happify.etsy.com

I’m doing a show this weekend, and I’m pretty excited! I’m also a little freaked out because the last show didn’t go so well (no traffic) and I have no idea what to expect from this one. However, I’m looking at it as an learning opportunity and a way to gain some exposure in my local area, so that should be good! In anticipation I’ve been working on some branding ideas, so they should be up in the shop soon. I also got some great stickers made from moo.etsy.com, and am waiting to to see what they look like! Check out this link for ideas if you are doing a show yourself:

Silly Me

Sometimes, when you’re just not feeling the craft spirit, you gotta fool around. I was actually working on a design for my xmas postcards this year, and my music stopped playing. Right in the middle of Unchained Melody. And now I can’t take my ipod in to get fixed because the guys at the genius bar are going to make fun of the fact that I listen to the Righteous Brothers. Alas.

Now that it’s become clear to everyone in my family (or general vicinity) that I like to make things, I get weekly deliveries of junk cleared out of closets and attics and garages. I think it’s wonderful. 40 year old yarn, funny antique magazines, all sorts of wonderful things. However I just received something even more wonderful than all of that old junk – my great grandmother’s button collection! She was definitely from another era, when it was important to save everything, and nothing was just disposable. My mother used to tel me stories about when she was little and she and her sister would sneak into her grandmother’s sewing closet to spend hours looking at these buttons. And somehow, I ended up with them when my grandmother moved!
However, the junk is starting to take over my house and I need to do something with all of these lovely things I
keep inheriting. So, I decided to make rings for my family out of them, so all of my aunts and sisters and cousins can have a piece of my Great Grandma Wanda with them. It’s a shame to see them just sitting in a bucket all alone! I loved the rings so much I decided to sell them on Etsy as well, to spread a piece of my grandmother’s legacy across the world! Check out my shop for the latest additions.
